Karen Woida is a graduate of Augsburg College, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary. Berkeley, California.  A former educator,  she is passionate about learning, especially when it comes to faith formation for people of all ages.  She has attended the Youth & Family Institute for Passing on the Faith and participated in a Child & Family Institute of Aptos parenting workshop.  Children and their families are another joy in her vocation as parish pastor.  Pastor Karen has led workshops and  spiritual retreats for congregations in the Sierra Pacific Synod, and is currently serving on the Word & Sacrament Discipling Team which has responsibilities for Christian Education and Faith Formation in the Synod.  In 2009 Pastor Karen will, along with Diane McGeoch, serve as Synod Advocate for the ELCA Book of Faith Initiative.

Karen and her husband Duane are the parents of two grown children,: Craig, who lives in San Jose, and Kaari, who lives with her husband and three daughters in Martinez.  Duane, also a graduate of Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, is currently serving as Chaplain for residents and staff at Salem Lutheran Home in Oakland.
